Have a happy and safe summer!
Absentee Calls: Please call
the attendance line 383-3227
when calling your child out of school. Do not use the personal voice mail of
Maureen Beckman. The nurse’s voice mail should be used for health concerns
other than attendance.
CHILD STUDY
TEAM:
medication in nurse’s office: If your child
has medication stored in the nurse's office, please pick it up before the end
of the school year. Only children who have a doctor's order
permitting them to self administer medication will be permitted to bring their
medication home. Medication that is not picked up will have to be
discarded unless the child is attending the summer school program. Parents of
children attending summer school should pick up the medication at the end of
the summer school program.
Reminder from the Nurse: If your child borrowed clothing from the nurse’s
office, please return the item(s) to school ASAP!
Transferring
Students: If you will be moving out of the district, please send us a formal
letter indicating the new school name, address and telephone number, as well as
your new residential address. This information is needed so that we can process
the necessary paperwork.
Library Update: The school year is quickly coming to an end and it is
important to return all library books before summer begins. Please make sure
that your child returns his or her books as soon as possible. On several dates
throughout the break, the library will be open for students and families to
browse, read and borrow books. Please stop by anytime between 9am- 1pm on July
6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 22, 23, 27, 30 and August 2. There will also be a Story and
Activity Hour for all ages from 10am- 11am on the mornings of the same dates
listed above. Enjoy the summer and keep on reading!
Summer Safety
TipsSummer time is now here. For most children, this means more outdoor
activities (swimming, camping, bike riding, etc…). For all parents, this means
being extra vigilant to keep your child safe and healthy. Here are some tips to
keep your child safe this summer.
Ø Never leave
children unattended in or near the water. Use U.S. Coast Guard approved life
vests, also known as personal flotation devices (PFDs),
on boats, docks, and around deep or swift water.
Ø Make sure children always wear a helmet
when riding a bicycle or scooter, roller-blading or
skateboarding.
Ø Protect children from excessive
exposure to sun -- especially from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Use a sunscreen with a Sun
Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 or higher.
Ø Supervise children whenever they use
play equipment such as making sure children stay clear of the front and back of
swings while in use.
Ø Keep children
away from areas where any lawn mowers are being used. Never allow children to
ride on mowers.
Ø Minimize the risk of bee and insect
stings by having children wear shoes and light-colored clothing. Use insect
repellent sparingly on older children and never on infants.
Ø Keep children from playing near
barbecues and bonfires and always have water present when fire is involved.
Only adults should use lighter fluid.
Ø
Strap children in a properly-fitting seat belt, car seat
or booster seat when traveling by car or airplane.
