• Welcome to Speech Therapy!

The primary focus of speech-language therapy in the schools:

To target speech and language needs that interfere with a child’s ability to benefit from the educational process in one or more of the following areas:

    Academic
The ability to benefit from the curriculum

    Social
The ability to interact with peers and adults

    Vocational
The ability to participate in work-related activities

Speech/language therapy is individualized to target each child's specific areas of need.

Parents and teachers are important participants in the process, and collaborate to help our students succeed.

When a child is placed in speech and language therapy, IEP (individual edcuation plan) goals will be targeted from a team approach. The SLP, parent, teacher and child will work together to develop communication to the fullest potential.

From the minute the child is placed in therapy, our goal is to foster communicative independence by applying strategies we teach. Our ultimate goal will be functional communication skills.
